Oconee County Divorce Records
Divorce cases are filed in the Oconee District Court's Family Division. When a couple files for a divorce, the case is assigned a family court docket number, and a file is opened with the Clerk of Court. The case file includes the original divorce petition, the other party's responses, any agreements regarding property, child custody or support orders, and the final divorce decree signed by the judge.
Divorce records are public records in South Carolina, though case documents involving minor children may be partially restricted. The final divorce decree, a legal document confirming the dissolution of marriage, is accessible to anyone who requests it from the Clerk of Court.
